For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Anger is one of the most debilitating emotions humans can experience. Aside from the well documented negative physiological effects, anger leaves in its wake potential personal and interpersonal devastation. A chronically angry individual may eventually drive away those closest to him or her. An angry person is one who others may not fully trust. After all, can an angry person be truly consistent other than to be consistently angry at any given moment?
It is wise to direct your anger towards problems -- not people; to focus your energies on answers -- not excuses. William Arthur Ward
Anger can have a very narrow useful aspect; unfortunately, very few can successfully harness this energy in productive ways. I have helped people to develop coping skills and life strategies to deal with anger and its consequences. To harness the power of anger with intelligence and compassion is the ultimate goal - anything short will never end the cycle of anger.
Anger is a great force. If you control it, it can be transmuted into a power which can move the whole world. William Shenstone
There are infinite ways to view a situation where anger seems to be the only response. I have helped many to find alternatives to their typical ways of managing frustration, dissappointment, and displeasure. Beyond anger management there is what truly makes the difference that lasts a lifetime: addressing core issues of which the symptoms are the outward manifestation of anger. Techniques to control anger are really a bandaid approach in comparison.
Anyone can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person at the right time, and for the right purpose and in the right way - that is not within everyone's power and that is not easy. Aristotle
“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” Gautama Siddharta
“Anger dwells only in the bosom of fools.” Albert Einstein
